Keynote Speaker

Each year the Wilson Ornithological Society recognizes an individual for outstanding career contributions to research and mentoring in ornithology with our most prestigious honor: the Margaret Morse Nice Medal. The Nice Medal hearkens back to the extraordinary productivity and creative insights of Margaret Morse Nice, a pioneering scientist of the 20th Century equally revered for her dedication to mentoring and her service to ornithological societies, including our own.

The WOS is thrilled to recognize Dr. Sara Morris as this year’s Margaret Morse Nice Medalist. Sara is a past president of the Wilson Ornithological Society, the current president of the American Ornithological Society, and the John M. Kingsbury Executive Director of the Shoals Marine Laboratory in Durham, New Hampshire. Sara will deliver the annual Margaret Morse Nice Plenary at this year’s annual meeting, with the title “Lessons from Appledore: Insights into migration and stopover ecology from a long-term banding station.” We hope you will join us to learn from and celebrate with Dr. Sara Morris!
